It peaked in popularity when PCIe furst came out and no one could find an X This site may earn affiliate commissions from the links on this page. I am not really sure why this practice caught on but everyone is doing it so why not Gigabyte?

The GT is also a great card, but it costs a bit more than the X so its a bigger jump from the X The card itself is small compared to higher end cards, its is about the size of a series video card. Again the performance of the X XT was not bad, rather good if you consider the price.
It was released before the X so it had its chance in the spotlight but now Xs are available for just a few dollars more than tthe Xs so many consumers are opting to spend the extra dough. The games are not the most up-to-date or the most exciting titles but even if you just play one of them, this really helps in the bang-for-your-buck department. To giganyte the overclocking potential of the X XT we employed the ATiTool which tests to gigsbyte the maximum stable core and memory speed.
To do this we added up the fps of each game and then divided by the price. They are both based around four pipelines and a bit memory interface. These are not truly an accurate indicator of real-life performance but they are a very good way to judge the comparative power of video cards.
For casual gamers or those on a budget this could still be a great find. Despite how relatively new PCIe is to the scene there is currently a great selection of video cards.
It had no trouble surviving our benchmarks at this resolution but it is not an appropriate level for yigabyte unless you want to deal with the occassional slow down. Here the three cards have begun to seperate 182mb bit and the X and the really began to pull away. The size of the card and the fact that it does not need a power connector means it went right in place with no fuss.

The installation of the X XT went very smoothly. Though many consumers have yet to make the jump from AGP this transition is extremely smooth because there are such 128jb large number of cards available, all priced very competitively with their AGP counterparts.
As is standard for a mid-range card, the X XT does not need any external power. This can be a bit confusing for consumers and in the turmoil the X seems to have been a bit forgotten. The results of this testing were more of less on par with the results we expected based on the price of each card. It did have some trouble with 3dMark05, which is not uncommon for mid-range cards.
The X XT lagged behind the other two, not doing terribly, but never leading the pack. This is a pretty nice bundle, especially considering the price of this video card.

The is the highest speed at which the card can run constantly without getting artifacts or any other problems. Prog Rock - 18mb May have trouble with the next generation of games — Could use more cooling.
Next it was time for some synthetic testing. Synthetics were not included. For testing we used the newest ATI drivers available, Catalyst 5.

This is a very simple test in which we will compare the scores of each card versus its price. Now, a number of months later, the card 128jb still very relevant but has a lot more competition. The overclockability of this card could probably be aided by installing an aftermarket cooler, though it would not help make the video card quieter as this card is pretty much silent, unlike the X which can get quite loud.
Overall there is not much more to say about the looks of the video card.
